While Faro itself doesn't have a beach, the nearby islands offer beautiful sandy shores. This map highlights the best beaches within the region, and Faro's three beach island:

Faro's beaches offer some of the quietest and most pristine stretches of sand in the Algarve.
The Praia de Faro is the most accessible beach, can get busy in peak season but has good facilities. For tranquillity, head to Ilha Deserta or the eastern end of Ilha de Faro. The beaches on Ilha da Culatra provide a mix of seclusion and local atmosphere.
